Somatic Movement taster sessions (live, in person)

This page enables you to book for a 1.25-hour in-person taster session in Somatic Movement. These sessions are suitable for those completely new to the approach, as well as for those more experienced/wanting a refresh.

This session is for you if:

  • You want to spend some time calming and settling your nervous system

  • You have chronic pain and want to learn an effective practice to support you to reduce your pain

  • You want to increase your awareness of your internal body sensations

  • You want a practice that helps with postural issues

  • You just want to take some time for yourself to relax!

  • You’ve never done Somatic Movement before and want to give it a try

  • You’ve done Somatic Movement before but want a refresher or a boost for your practice

  • You want to get a sense of my teaching style!

Requirements: please bring a yoga mat, a blanket (if you get cold easily) and a couple of small cushions if you have them (if you don’t have some or any of this equipment, it will be provided); you may wish to bring a drink - water can be provided if needed; if possible, wear something comfortable and flexible (e.g. jogging bottoms/leggings, t-shirt, jumper without hood); ability to get down to and back up from the floor to do exercises; ability to lie on your back (this could be propped with cushions if needs be; intention to create space to practise between sessions (optional, but highly recommended!).

Session details

1.25-hour in-person group session, to get a taste of Somatic Movement.

Pre-requisites: none. Sessions involve getting down to the floor, so if this isn’t possible for you, please get in touch to find out how you can access this work.

Sessions are in person, and are held in Finchampstead, Berkshire, UK. Further details will be sent on booking.

I am certified to deliver Somatic Movement education classes, in the tradition of Thomas Hanna. I am a Somatic Movement Center® Certified Exercise Instructor (level 3) (through Sarah Warren’s Somatic Movement Center training), and a certified Essential Somatics Movement Teacher (through Martha Peterson’s Essential Somatics training).
